Eastern downs Williamstown

Led by Larry Chatman and the Bertucci brothers, Michael and Brian, Eastern blanked Williamstown 2-0 in boys' volleyball in a battle for first place in the Olympic Conference American Division.

The unbeaten Vikings, 3-0 in the division and 6-0 overall, won by scores of 25-21 and 25-20.

Chatman led Eastern with eight kills and four solo blocks, and Michael Bertucci had six kills and one solo block. Brian Bertucci with one kill and two solo blocks.

Karan Desai had a fine all-around day contributing 14 assists, two digs, once ace and one kill.

Cherry Hill West won the neighborhood battle, shutting out Cherry Hill East 2-0 on game scores of 25-15 and 25-21.

Liam Howley had 15 kills and six digs for the Lions, who also received a seven-kill, three-dig effort from Matt Parisi and 25 assists and two aces from Andrew Nop.

St. Augustine won its first match of the year, beating Pennsauken Tech 2-1. The Hermits got eight kills apiece from Kendrick Shollenberger and Lou D'Agostino.

The Hermits won the first game 25-11, dropped the second 25-14, but prevailed in the deciding game 25-23.

Collingswood tied Sterling for first place in the National Division after beating Cinnaminson 2-1. John Reilly led the way with five kills and five blocks.
