Girls' Swimming Player of the Week - Morgan Ley, Cherry Hill East
Saturday, January 29, 2005
Grade: Senior
Events: Breaststroke
Accomplishments: Ley won the 50 free in 26.62 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.16 in the Cougars' win over Lenape Wednesday night, and finished second in both the 50 free and 100 backstroke in a loss to Vineland Thursday. Ley, who is suffering from a pinched nerve in her back which prevents her from doing a lot of butterfly and IM, has signed a letter of intent to continue her education and swimming career at East Carolina University.
Comments: "I've been swimming a lot of different things this year, basically wherever the team needs me," Ley said. "It certainly has given me a different perspective on things and I have more respect for anyone that swims the 50 free. In breaststroke I feel great in the water. My primary event is the 200 breast, that is my favorite event. But I like the 100." It's fun, quick and I enjoy swimming it. It's been a fun season and I definitely feel the team is moving on to a higher level."
