Player of the Week - Laurel Johnson, Cherry Hill East

Position: Outside/middle hitter
Accomplishments: Johnson's excellent all-around play has helped the Cougars to a 9-3 record. On Oct. 6, Johnson had four kills, four blocks and three aces in the Cougars' 2-0 win over division rival Washington Township. During Tuesday's loss to Bridgewater-Raritan, the state's No. 1 team, Johnson had six kills and four blocks.
Comments: "Volleyball is now my favorite sport. I enjoy the total team aspect of it," said Johnson, who also swims for the Cougars during the winter. "I started playing volleyball as a freshman and ended up loving it." Said coach Karl Moehlmann: "Laurel has been our most consistent hitter. She's also an excellent passer and a great defender. Laurel is the total package."
