South Jersey cultural groups receive state arts funding

The New Jersey State Council on the Arts on Tuesday awarded $4.4 million in grants to 36 South Jersey cultural institutions and agencies.

Eight Camden County arts groups shared $767,625 in grants. The Arts and Business Partnership of Southern New Jersey received two grants totaling $80,000. The Camden County Cultural & Heritage Commission was awarded four grants for $ 106,958.

Other Camden County groups receiving grants were the Haddonfield Symphony ($205,415), Ritz Theatre ($15,000), Rutgers-Camden Writers Conference ($9,375), Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts ($175,500), South Jersey Performing Arts Center ($20,000) and Walt Whitman Cultural Arts Center ($120,527).

Four Burlington County cultural groups shared $433,008 in grants. The Perkins Center for the Arts received four grants totaling $224,163. Other recipients are Burlington County College Foundation Theatre ($31,500), Burlington County Cultural & Heritage Department ($77,345) and Powhatan Renape Nation/Rankokus Reservation ($100,000).

In Gloucester County, the Glassboro Center for the Arts received two grants for $218,200. The Gloucester County Cultural & Heritage Commission received $60,778.

In Atlantic County, the Noyes Museum received $86,400 and the Richard Stockton College Performing Arts Center, $163, 000.

In Cape May County, the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts received two grants for $189,100.

In Cumberland County, Wheaton Village in Cumberland County gained two grants for $617,448. In Salem County, Appel Farm Arts & Music Center received two grants for $404, 435.
