  • Much Ado About Money: The Series
    The taxpayer-funded New Jersey State Council on the Arts poured millions into North Jersey arts groups last year, while many South Jersey groups received nothing, the Courier-Post found during a two-month investigation of funding inequities. Although by law South Jersey must receive 25 percent of the council's funding, the region received only 21.1 percent in 2001. Over the past four years, $2.1 million in council funding has been diverted to North Jersey groups and statewide projects.
