NEWARK

Jaime Navarro scattered seven hits and struck out six in eight innings to earn his ninth win of the season as the Newark Bears defeated the Camden Riversharks 7-3 in an Atlantic League game Monday night.

Navarro (9-6) and the Bears took advantage of home runs by Billy Ashley and Peto Ramirez and four Riversharks errors. Newark (9-13 in the second half) scored three runs in the first inning, including one on an RBI groundout by former Phillies outfielder Pete Incaviglia (0-for-3), and one run in each of the second and third innings to take control.

Camden's Ryan Schurman (6-8) allowed seven runs, three earned, on eight hits and five walks.

Haddon Township High School graduate Brad Strauss went 2- for-4 with his 18th double of the season for the Riversharks, who fell to 8-14 in the second half.
