Riversharks earn victory at Somerset

The Riversharks' Silvio Censale became yet another left- hander to silence Somerset's predominantly left-handed batting order to lift Camden over Somerset 5-4 on Thursday night.

Guillermo Garcia's two-run double in the ninth provided the game-winning RBIs as Camden handed Somerset a loss before 3,332 at Commerce Bank Ballpark.

A win could have boosted the Patriots back into first place in the Atlantic League South thanks to the Newark Bears' 11-10 victory over the first-place Atlantic City Surf, who maintained their half-game lead.

Instead, the Patriots mustered just eight hits and stranded five runners.

``We're struggling right now,'' said right fielder Greg Blosser.

Censale entered the game with a 14.28 ERA, but the Lodi native limited Somerset to two runs on six hits in six innings lowering his ERA to 9.28.

Despite Censale's effort, a solo home run by Somerset center fielder Michael Warner, his team-leading 10th, off Rod Bolton (2-7) in the eighth forced at 3-3 tie and, for a moment, another dramatic comeback appeared in the works.

But Camden put Somerset away in the ninth when pinch- hitter Kim Batiste laced a one-out single off Derek Dace (2- 3). Dace walked Dwight Maness before getting Dan Held to pop out.

With two outs, Garcia blasted 1-1 delivery to the right- center field, scoring Batiste and Maness for a 5-3 lead.

The Riversharks announced that second baseman Brian Sherlock had a surgery today on his broke left leg and will be out for the remainder of the season. They also announced the signing of pitcher Lariel Gonzalez and infielder Andres Duncan, brother of former Phillies player Mariano Duncan.
