STATEMENT OF: PAUL MICHAEL DANIELS
TAKEN BY: SENIOR INVESTIGATOR MARTY DEVLIN, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
PRESENT: SERGEANT MIKE KANTNER, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
DATE: MONDAY, MAY 1, 2000
TIME: 5:22 P.M.
REFERENCE: CAROL NEULANDER HOMICIDE
TRANSCRIBED BY: JOAN L. TRONGONE-TWARDY, CAMDEN COUNTY PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

Q: How much money had he given you already?

A: Five thousand.

Q: All right, so you had five thousand of the seventy-five hundred dollars apiece you were supposed to get?

A: Yeah.

Q: And you each had five thousand or did he give you five thousand?

A: He just gave us five thousand.

Q: OK so you each had twenty-five hundred?

A: Yeah.

Q: Did Lenny give you the twenty-five hundred dollars?

A: Yes, yes.

Q: OK and that was before you went over there the first night?

A: Yes.

Q: OK. Now, uh, after that the Rabbi kept saying you didn't do it. A: Yeah.

Q: He's urging you guys, you gotta do it, you gotta do it?

A: Yes.

Q: Is Lenny telling you that there's any, any time line here that it has to be done?

A: He said ...

Q: Was the Rabbi telling him ...

A: It's gotta be done, it's gotta be done, the Rabbi keeps saying to uh Lenny.

Q: OK. Vow, it's not done the first time, it's gonna be done the second time.

A: Yes.

Q: Now, when, when did you go back the second time?

A: About a week later I think it was. Or a week or two weeks later, I'm not sure.

Q: A week or two weeks later. What night was it?

A: It was on Tuesday.

Q: A Tuesday night?

A: Yeah.

Q: Now tell me about the logistics of that. Where did you and Lenny meet up that night?

A: We met up at Clover.

Q: Where's Clover at?

A: In uh Cherry Hill. Right down the street from where Mr. and Mrs. Neulander live.

Q: OK. So you meet over at Clover. And how many cars do you have?

A: Two.

Q: What are the two cars?

A: One's a white car, and one's a tan, I mean like a silverish car.

Q: Is that the same silverish gray car that you went over there the first night in?

A: Yes I think so.

Q: OK who was driving this car?

A: Lenny was driving the white one, and I was driving the silver one.

Q: OK so when you met in Clover, uh what did you decide to do? What was the plan as far as getting over to the Neulander residence?

A: We would go in one car.

Q: OK and what car did you get in?

A: Into the silverish car.

Q: Into the silverish car that you had?

A: Yeah.

Q: Who drove?

A: Uh Lenny drove.

Q: OK why did Lenny drive?

A: He knew where it was at.

Q: OK. So you drive over to the residence. Right?

A: Yes.

Q: And uh, what do you do?

A: Well Lenny goes inside, I was hanging outside the house.

Q: Where did you first of all, when you got there, where did you park?

A: I was parked on the side, on the side street.

Q: OK so you didn't park right in front of the house like you did the first time?

A: Uh uh. Uh uh.

Q: You parked on the side street?

A: Yeah.

Q: How far was the side street from the house?

A: More than thirty feet. I'm just saying ...

Q: Was it around the corner?

A: Like around the corner, yeah.

Q: OK, so you park here, and uh, how do you know Mrs. Neulander's home?

A: We seen her car there.

Q: OK. Lights on in the house?

A: Yeah, lights on in the house.

Q: OK. Then what happens?

A: Uh Lenny goes inside, and I wait on the side of the house. Next thing you know, Lenny came out saying that he hit her with a pipe. And uh, to go in there and hit her. So I went in there and I hit her twice and ... and right when I saw her the first time I knew that she was dead. And I just hit her to make sure. And then after that we both just leaved real fast and go back to the car. He leave me at Clover. He dropped me off. I go pick up Julie and he goes somewhere, I don't remember where he said he was going.
