Here is information on using the NJ Transit River Line:

Length

The line runs 34 miles, from Camden to Trenton.

Stations

Tweeter Center, Delaware Avenue in Camden

NJ State Aquarium, Camden

Cooper Street at Rutgers-Camden

Walter Rand Transportation Center, Camden

36th Street, Pennsauken

Route 73, Pennsauken

East Broad Street, Palmyra

Main Street, Riverton

Broad Street, Cinnaminson

Franklin Street, Riverside

Rhawn Street, Delanco

Railroad Avenue, Beverly/Edgewater Park

Broad Street south of Burlington City

Downtown Burlington City

Route 130 in Florence

Hornberger Avenue, Roebling

West Park Avenue, Bordentown

Cass Street, Trenton

Parking

There is free parking at many of the stations, except those in downtown Camden and Burlington City, and two stations in Trenton: Cass Street and the Amtrak station.

The major park and ride stations are at Route 73 in Pennsauken, where there are 457 spaces; Burlington South at 500 Broad St. with 415 spaces; and along Route 130 in Florence with 625 spaces.

In Trenton, at South Clinton Avenue, the northernmost station has 109 spaces and parking costs $10 a day.

There are about 3,300 combined parking spots at stations along the line.

Ride time

Scheduled travel time is 73 minutes from end to end.

Frequency

Trains run every 30 minutes, departing Camden and Trenton on the hour and half past the hour.

Eventually, trains will run every 15 minutes during the morning and evening rush.

Hours

Weekdays: 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

Saturdays: 6 a.m.-midnight

Sundays and major holidays: 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

Last trains

Weekdays from Trenton: Last train to Camden departs at 9:05 p.m.

Weekdays from Camden: Last train to Trenton departs at 9 p.m. (Last train to 36th Street Station Park & Ride departs at midnight.)

Saturdays: Late-night service will run the entire length of the system allowing customers attending entertainment, cultural or sporting events in Camden, Trenton, New York and Philadelphia to use light rail service home. Last train to Camden leaves Trenton at midnight. Last train to Trenton leaves Camden at midnight. (Last train to 36th Street Park & Ride leaves Camden at 1:15 a.m.)

Sundays: Last train to Camden leaves Trenton at 9 p.m. Last train to Trenton leaves Camden at 9 p.m. (Last train to 36th Street Station Park & Ride leaves Camden at midnight.)

Missed trains

Those who miss the last train can use NJ Transit Bus No. 419 Burlington-Riverside-Philadelphia or Bus No. 409 Trenton-Philadelphia. Customers boarding the bus will be required to pay the full fare.

Fares

One-way fare is $1.10. The reduced fare for senior citizens and people with disabilities is 50 cents.

Monthly passes cost $41. Group discounts can be arranged.

Tickets

Tickets are good for two hours and must be purchased from vending machines at each station.

Before getting on a train, the ticket must be validated by another machine. It puts a date and time stamp on the ticket, making it good for two hours.

To use the ticket machine, first select English or Spanish.

Select ticket type (adult, child, senior/disabled).

Select number of tickets and payment type then insert payment.

Remove tickets and receipt from bin.

To validate the ticket, insert it into the validation machine with the print side up and the NJT logo facing to the left.

Monthly passes do not need to be validated.

Checks for validated tickets will be made randomly. If you don't have a stamped ticket, you could be fined up to $100.

Transfers

Transfers to bus lines can be made at most stations.

In Trenton, connections can be made to Amtrak, the national rail system, as well as NJ Transit service to New York City and Septa R7 Line service to Philadelphia.

At the Walter Rand Transportation Center in Camden, connections can be made to the PATCO Hi-Speedline to Lindenwold - where train service continues to Atlantic City - or to Philadelphia.

Safety tips

  • Look both ways before crossing tracks; cross only where there are signals or traffic lights, or at designated crossings.

  • Do not walk or stand on the tracks.

  • Do not lean on the doors.

  • Stand three feet behind the edge of the platform.

    Rules

  • No smoking.

  • No eating or drinking.

  • No littering.

  • Use headphones if you're listening to a radio.

  • No in-line skating or skateboarding.

  • Small pets are allowed in carry-on travel cages.

  • Service animals are permitted at all times.

  • Speak softly when using cell phones.

    Bicycles

    Bicycles are permitted and must be secured on racks in the cars. Six bikes are permitted per car.
