No paintings of Shakespeare were done in his lifetime so we don't know exactly what he looked like. But drawings, paintings and sculptures done shortly after his death show a man with a high forehead, soulful eyes, a straight nose, and a mustache and beard.
The Tomb
Shakespeare was buried in Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon. His grave bears this inscription:
Good friend for Jesus’ sake forbear, to dig the dust enclosed here. Blessed be the man that spares these
stones, and cursed be he that moves my bones.
Shakespeare was apparently afraid that someone would disturb his final resting place.
