Rally on July 31

Like the C-P, we believe that the Camden Waterfront is the pre-eminent site for the location of the majestic USS New Jersey battleship. We would like to express our appreciation to the C-P and the public for the important role everyone is playing in support of bringing her back 'home' to her true birthplace along the Delaware River.

On July 31, the members of the USS New Jersey Battleship Commission have been invited to Camden for a formal presentation on the merits of our proposed site.

We wish we could involve each and every battleship supporter in the actual plans for the day that will include a boat trip for the commissioners to view the Waterfront attractions, the site and receive a detailed presentation at the Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) building in the afternoon. But we simply do not have the space to extend the invitation to all.

However, we could use everyone's help if their schedule permits to join in the public rally to show the extensive support to the commissioners.

On July 31, at approximately 11:15 a.m., we are asking 'friends of the battleship' to gather in front of the New Jersey State Aquarium at Camden to greet the commissioners after they disembark from the tour boat at the ferry dock and travel up the path alongside the Aquarium to the DRPA presentation. We feel this will be an effective way to show the vast public support for our plan.

We feel there would be no more visible, accessible and welcoming location to host the USS New Jersey Battleship Museum and Veterans Memorial than her home port of Camden. We hope you will be able to be a part of our brief welcoming rally for the battleship commission. We sincerely appreciate your tremendous support of our project.

SEN. JOHN J. MATHEUSSEN - Turnersville
MAYOR MILTON MILAN - Camden
FREEHOLDER PATRICIA JONES - Camden
