Sign
petitions
The
task force for the siting of the USS New Jersey Battleship, 'Home
Port Camden,' is busily preparing for the battleship commission's
visit to Camden on July 31.
I would like to thank many people who have
already shown their support for this South Jersey/Delaware Valley
project. We have received more than 4,000 signatures on petitions
from all over our region, and hundreds of letters, along with
the C-P's coupons. We still need to do more to show the battleship
commission our overwhelming support.
Copies of petitions are being circulated at
all Camden County park events, the county stores in Echelon Mall
and Winslow Township, the Camden County Library, and by veterans
organizations, fraternal groups, as well as individual supporters
and numerous others. Anyone can call my office (225-5305) for
petitions, but we must have them back by July 29 so we can present
them to the commission when it visits on July 31.
This has been a remarkable experience for
me with everyone pulling together for a single purpose. However,
it is still an uphill battle. We know we have the right spot
for the USS New Jersey. Together, we must convince the commission.
