Poor setting for ship

Re: 'Bayonne, battleship: Imperfect together,' (column, 6/22).

I agree with what Kim Mulford wrote 100 percent. I also agree with another reader, my former co-worker and a World War II Navy veteran, Andrew Jannett of Cherry Hill, whose letter appeared several weeks ago ('Berth at birthplace' 5/3).

It is difficult for me to visualize such a majestic, historic ship in the setting shown and described in the column. The USS New Jersey does belong in the Camden/South Jersey area! As for New Yorkers and New York tourists, I doubt very much if the USS New Jersey would appear in its commercials, tour guides or attraction brochures.

At least Mulford knew about and got to see what is referred to as 'The Garden State.' Just think what you would have encountered as you searched for Bayonne from New York. The C-P might consider another trip and follow-up column entitled, 'Bayonne, battleship: Imperfect together II,' as experienced from New York.

Let's keep battling for the battleship.
