Getting
'robbed'
The
C-P's 6/3 editorial, 'Battleship commission needs its sails trimmed,'
was right on course. You nominated Assemblyman Joseph Azzolina,
chair of the USS New Jersey Battleship Commission, as poster
child for arrogance. I would like to add the nomination of Congressman
Rob Andrews for 'missing without action.'
Where is Andrews on this effort to bring the
ship home?
I have been in contact with Sen. John Matheussen
and cannot find any record either publicly or privately that
confirms any efforts by Rob Andrews to honor our veterans, shipyard
workers, and all of South Jersey by bringing the New Jersey home
to Camden. The lack of effort raises several questions.
Is Rob Andrews more interested in assisting
possible campaign for governor supporters in North Jersey by
remaining silent and allowing the ship to go to Bayonne?
For every tax dollar that working people here
in the district send to Rob Andrews in Washington, we receive
only 69 cents back. That puts us in last place in the entire
United States for return from the federal government.
It is clear that with Andrews in Congress,
we're getting 'robbed'! Let's work to bring the New Jersey to
the Camden Waterfront - even if Rob Andrews is 'missing without
action.'
