Mark 4, 20 mm single gun mount was the standard close-in anti-aircraft weapon used during World War II until the early 1950s. They were located in every area of the main deck and could be seen on almost every level of the
superstructure. The gun could fire a shell a little over a quarter of a pound at the rate of 450 rounds a minute. Mark 2, 40 mm quadruple gun mount was the standard intermediate range anit-aircraft weapon used from World War II until the late 1950s. Each gun was capable of firing a 2-pound shell at the rate of 160 rounds per minute. Mark 28, 5-inch twin gun mount This gun, being a part of the ship’s secondary battery, was used against surface, shore and aircraft targets. The guns are mounted in a twin arrangement, enclosed in an armored shell.
